CSSC Swimmers Make a Splash at Los Angeles Grand Prix

Thirteen CSSC athletes competed at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium last weekend at the prestigious Los Angeles Grand Prix, the final meet in the 2009-2010 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series. The meet showcased some of the world's best swimmers including 15 U.S. Olympians, and CSSC swimmers competed alongside these champions, swimming to some team records and best times.

Competing for CSSC at the meet were: Alex Agopyan-Miu, Kyle Berg, Jordan Capper, Anthony DeVetis, Michael Fernandez, Beach Fogleman, Shannyn Hultin, Sam Magnani, Minh Nguyen, Anna Quinn, David Sommers, Ore WahnisheandJustin Young. Each athlete achieved at least one best time at the meet!

Highlights included the following:
- Kyle Berg achieved a best time and a new Sectionals cut in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 57.06.
- Shannyn Hultin qualified for the "B" Consol or Bonus Final of the Women's 400 IM, then swam just a second off her lifetime best to take 20th place overall in that event, touching the wall in 5:00.56. Shannyn also achieved best times in both the 400 and 200 freestyles, gaining a Summer Junior National Bonus Cut in the latter with her time of 2:07.33.
- Anna Quinn broke her own CSSC team record for 13-14 Girls 100 butterfly, lowering her time to 1:05.92.
