CSSC Swimmers Make a Splash at SCS Older Junior Olympics Competition

CSSC (Conejo Simi Swim Club) athletes participated in a successful 13 and up Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics competition in Long Beach last weekend. Nearly every swimmer dropped time in their events, swimmers in every age group placed in the finals competition and several team records were broken.  Swimmers participating in the meet were  Alex Agopyan-Miu, Kyle Berg, Jordan Capper, Taylor Croissant, Anthony DeVetis, Shannyn Hultin, Yu-Bin Kim, Samantha Magnani, Anna Quinn and David Sommers.
 
Top 16 placements included:
13-14 Girls
Anna Quinn (13) placed 10th in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.81, 8th in the 100 butterfly in 58.75 (a new team record), 12th in the 100 free in 54.31 and 16th in the 200 fly in 2:13.99.  All of Anna's times were SCS reportable times.
 
13-14 Boys
Kyle Berg (14) took 11th place in the 500 free with a time of 4:58.40 (SCSRT), 16th in the 200 free in 1:52.24 and 6th in the 100 free in 50.35.
 
15-18 Girls
Shannyn Hultin (16) took Gold in the 400IM with a time of 4:26.14 (a short course Nationals time), 7th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.79, 4th place in the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.14 (new team record) and 11th place in the 100 breast in 1:07.30.
 
Sam Magnani (17) placed 16th in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.47 (SCSRT), and 13th in the 100 free in 52.91 (SCSRT).
 
15-18 Boys
Yu-Bin Kim (15) placed 10th in the 100 butterfly in 52.07 (new team record, SCSRT). His prelim time of 1:59.20 in the 200 butterfly was also a new CSSC record and SCSRT.  He also established an SCSRT in the 50 free, 22.42,
 
CSSC ended JOs in 21st place overall (out of 70 teams) despite missing more than a half dozen of its qualified Senior swimmers and without relay participation.
